Anaheim Ducks
Originally incepted in 1993 to coincide with the Disney movie The Mighty Ducks, the Anaheim Ducks have become one of the elite NHL franchises, winning the Stanley Cup in 2007. Since then, they have remained an elite NHL power, and have created a lot of excitement in the Anaheim area. They’ve made it to the NHL playoffs six times, and won the Western Conference in 2003 and 2007. They have since shed the “mighty” from their name, and are just the Anaheim Ducks. They’ve been an energetic club since day one, and can now thank young stars like for the interest in the team. Today’s young stars are following in the tradition of Paul Kariya, the team’s first pic, fourth overall, in the 1003 NHL draft.
The ducks play in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference, and have several NHL rivalries with teams in the area.
The Ducks play home games at the Honda Center, which holds 17,174 for hockey games. The arena was first called Aneheim Arena, and later Arrowhaed Pond. The arena is also located near Angel’s Stadium.
